Ray Porter
Ray Porter, 79, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw.
Ray, born Aug. 1, 1935, in Floyd County, Kentucky, was the son of Walker and Bessie (Frazier) Porter. He lived most of his life in Kosciusko County coming from Kentucky. He was employed by Dalton Foundry for 25 years retiring from its maintenance department. He attended Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Claypool.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years: Shirley, Warsaw; five daughters and two sons-in-law: Bonnie (Reggie) Shepherd, Claypool; Cindi (Marty) Justice, Winona Lake; Pam Engle, Sidney; Donna Porter, Marshall, Ill.; and Margaret Parker, Bath, Ohio; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Mitchell (Barb) Porter, Armore, Oklahoma; Tim Porter, Warsaw; and Greg (Holly) Porter, Columbia City; two sisters: Marie Cavins, Wabash; and Jewell Porter, North Webster; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Robbie Porter, Corbin, Ky.; and Larry (Karen) Porter, Newport, Ky.; brother-in-law: Roger “Slim” Hysell, Las Vegas; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by a son: Paul Porter; three brothers: Dave Porter; Paul Porter; and Buddy Porter; two sisters: Helena May; and Mary Faye Hysell.
Friends and family will gather for a time to share memories in support of each other from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Titus Funeral Home, located at 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. Ray’s life will be celebrated in a service to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6. Pastor Dean Ealey of E.A.B.T. C. will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Ray’s memory be directed to Warsaw Meadows Care Center, 300 E. Prairie St., Warsaw, or to Alzheimer’s Association, Fort Wayne.
