State Launches Job Assistance Program For HIP Members
The state has launched a new program for those enrolled in the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) called the Gateway to Work. The program assists HIP enrollees with finding a career path that will hopefully lead to gainful employment or a better job in a new industry.
Gateway to Work is a free and voluntary program for any HIP participants who wish to try it. It will help assess skills and abilities as well as identify personal actions needed to achieve employment goals. Program activities include classes to help with filling out applications, creating resumes and job interview advice. It will also provide job search help.
“Gateway to Work and the Healthy Indiana Plan are ideally matched because they give low income Hoosiers a set of parallel tracks toward improving their health, their lives and the lives of their families,” stated Governor Mike Pence.
The program is managed by the state’s Family and Social Services Administration. Hoosiers currently enrolled in HIP will receive notification of their eligibility to participate in Gateway to Work. Those interested can also visit the program’s website for more information.
