UPDATE: Accident Deer Run and 100E
UPDATE: At 4:15 p.m. Sunday, May 3, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Deer Run Drive and CR 100E.
Upon arrival, first responders found a passenger, identified as Tyler Boocher, 20, Leesburg, ejected from the vehicle, having sustained a head injury. He was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in critical condition. The driver, David Lindley, 21, also of Leesburg, sustained only minor injuries and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment.
According to a report from the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. investigators, Lindley was traveling north on CR 100E when his vehicle left the west side of the roadway for a yet unknown reason. The vehicle struck two utility poles before coming to a rest on the roadside.
The crash remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene was Multi-Township EMS and Leesburg Fire Department.
Initial Report (4:20 p.m. Sunday, May 3): Leesburg Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS are responding to an accident at Accident Deer Run and CR 100E, north of Warsaw.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is also responding.
Information at the scene is that two males were injured in the accident, approximately 20 and 22 years of age. One male was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, the other has been flown to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. The extent of their injuries are unknown.
The area is closed and drivers are asked to find alternate routes. Power is also out in the area as a high tension pole was snapped. The duration of the outage is unknown. (Deb Patterson)
