Colts, Bears Take Receivers In Draft’s First Round
CHICAGO – The 2015 NFL Draft began Thursday night in the Windy City. The first round began as Florida State’s Jameis Winston was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Winston won the Heisman Trophy in 2014. The 2015 Heisman recipient, Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, was selected second overall by the Tennessee Titans.
Football fans in Kosciusko County were mostly fixated on the early and late stages of the draft. The Chicago Bears held the seventh overall pick and selected Kevin White, a speedy wide receiver from West Virginia while the Colts stunned many by also taking a wide receiver, Miami’s Phillip Dorsett.
The first round concluded with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots selected defensive tackle Malcom Brown from Texas.
The second and third rounds for the draft will continue tomorrow evening. Chicago will select No. 39 overall in the second round and hold the No. 71 overall pick in the third round. Indianapolis holds the No. 61 overall pick in round two and the No. 93 overall pick in the third round.
Rounds four through seven will be held Saturday.
