Antique Outboard Motor Meet Slated
The Antique Outboard Motor Club will host its 2015 Spring Antique Outboard Motor Show and Swap Meet on Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
The meet takes place at North Webster Town Park, at the Dixie tour boat dock on the west shore of Webster Lake. Weather permitting, it generally runs to mid-afternoon.
Several hundred antique outboard motor restorers, historians, collectors and enthusiasts from across the Midwest and Canada will gather for this day of activities related to their hobby. Events include an exhibition of recent restoration projects, serious swapping of parts and running the old-time boat motors on the lake.
Many antique motors are bought, sold and evaluated throughout the day. The swap area offers all types of antique motors, parts, literature and related accessories.
Area owners of old outboard motors are encouraged to bring their motors for a free evaluation.
The national Antique Outboard Motor Club classifies an antique outboard motor as being manufactured prior to 1950. A classic outboard motor is over 30 years old, made prior to 1985.
The local club hosts two meets each year. The second is planned for Sept. 19, also at North Webster Town Park.
