Vote Yes To Building A Safe Future For Our Children
Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter of support as both an educator and a proud parent of a WCS student. I want to publicly support and thank the Friends of Warsaw Community Schools, WCS Board members and Dr. David Hoffert for all of the time and energy they have spent to help improve the quality of education for the children in this community. The teachers, staff and administrators work tirelessly to provide a high-quality education for all learners and to meet the individual educational needs of each student. These dedicated faculty and staff deserve to work in a setting that not only stimulates learning, but also provides a safe and healthy environment for the students and families served.
I have the privilege of placing future teachers in classrooms to learn under the master educators employed by our local school system. I recognize that Warsaw’s skilled educators have the ability to effectively teach without all of the bells and whistles associated with new and/or improved buildings, but at this point the buildings included in the referendum are not equipped to keep our children safe. The proposed building plans do not include unnecessary amenities or wasted space; they provide our students with safe places to learn and grow.
If you have not yet heard the details of the referendum, please seek out more information before voting. Your vote to support the referendum gives a voice to children who are unable to advocate for themselves.
Vote yes to building a safe future for all of our children!
Sincerely,
Dr. Laurie Owen,
Dean, School of Education,
Grace College
