Howard W. Fawley
Howard W. Fawley, 86, of Mentone, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw. He had been in failing health for two years.
He was born to Milo and Mildred (Dunnuck) Fawley on Jan. 23, 1929, in Kosciusko County. He married Peggy F. Agens on Aug. 28, 1949. Fawley retired from Chore Time Brock in Milford. He also worked as an auto salesman for Petros GM, Warsaw.
Howard was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School. He was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge where he had been Master, as well as holding many other positions and the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne.
He was a loyal Cubs fan and a fan of the Tippecanoe Valley High School basketball and football teams. He could always be found in his front row seat with his good friend Dale McGowen. Every year, Dale delivered sweet corn to the community with Don Craig. He was also a regular in the mornings at Teel’s Restaurant. Howard always kept an immaculate yard and enjoyed fishing.
Howard is survived by his wife: Peggy Fawley, Mentone; his daughters: Linda (Mike) Ault, Claypool; Sandra (Garry) Wise, Mentone; his grandchildren: Angela DePalma; Chris (Sarah) Ault; Scott Wise; and Ann (Chris) Taelman; along with nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack D. and Betty Fawley.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will begin immediately after visitation and will be officiated by Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
