Meet Warsaw City Primary Candidates
Join the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, to Meet The Candidates in the 2015 Municipal Primary Election. The event will be held at Lakeview Middle School, 848 E. Smith St., Warsaw.
The primary election will be held within the city on May 5. Meet The Candidates provides opportunity for voters to better know the candidates.
Currently the contested offices include clerk-treasurer and city council at-large. Both Republican and Democrat parties will be represented for city council at-large. The office of mayor and individual districts are uncontested.
The event will begin with a meet and greet so constituents can meet the candidates. Following will be a question and answer opportunity for the contested candidates.
Contested offices:
Clerk-treasurer — Lynne A Christianson and Larry Ladd, Republicans
City Council At-Large (two seats) — Cindy A. Dobbins, Connie L. Fribley, Patrick Loebs, Justin Risner Juergen L. Voss and Jack Wilhite, Republicans; David Baumgartner, Democrat.
Uncontested offices are:
Mayor — Joseph M. Thallemer, Republican
City Council District 1 —Jeff R. Grose, Republican
City Council District 2 — Charlie Smith, Republican
City Council District 3 — Mike Klondaris, Republican
City Council District 4 — William G. (Jerry) Frush, Republican
City Council District 5 — Diane Quance, Republican
Also on this year’s Primary Election ballot is the local referendum question for Warsaw Community Schools which read:
“Shall Warsaw Community Schools issue bonds or enter into a lease to finance the construction of a replacement of Lincoln Elementary School and the renovation of and improvements to the Washington Elementary School and Edgewood Middle School, which is estimated to cost not more than $39,900,000 and is estimated to increase the property tax rate for debt service by a maximum of $0.138 per $100 of assessed valuation over the 20 year life of the bonds?”
