Wilma Louise Yoder
Wilma Louise Yoder, 91, formerly of Wakarusa, died at 8:20 a.m., Monday, April 13, 2015, at Tanglewood Village in Lubbock, Texas.
She was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Mishawaka, to Walter H. and Alma E. (Fink) Barkey.
She married Leonard J. Yoder, June 6, 1942, in Nappanee. Wilma had retired from CTS, where she had worked as an inspector. She had also worked at Smolers Dress Factory in Elkhart. She had been the cafeteria manager at Harrison School and Wakarusa High School. Wilma had been a lifetime member of Olive Mennonite Church in Wakarusa.
Surviving is her husband: Leonard J. Yoder; daughter: Dawn (David) Bender, Lubbock; son: Lance (Claris) Yoder, Indianapolis; grandchildren: Mark (Jodi) Bender, Fort Worth, Texas; Bethany (John) Kelly, Lexington, Ky.; Lindsay (Eric) Starr, Charlotte, N.C.; Blair (Fiancé Stephanie Boldon) Yoder, Indianapolis; six great-grandchildren, with a seventh expected very soon; sisters: Donna (Dean) Hartman, Fairfax, Iowa; Lois (Lloyd-deceased) Miller, Harrisonburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Phyllis Detweiler; and brother-in-law: James Detweiler.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Burial will be in Olive Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 24, at Olive Mennonite Church. Revs. Kevin and Sharon Yoder will officiate assisted by grandson Rev. Mark Bender, Northway Christian Church, Dallas.
