Betty Jean Taulbee
Betty Jean Taulbee, 89, South Bend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Betty was born on April 28, 1925, in Mentone, as the daughter of Lloyd and Emma Marie (Decker) Shoemaker.
On May 10, 1943, in the Methodist Church, Mentone, Betty was united in marriage to George Taulbee. They lived a wonderful 67 years together raising their family in South Bend. For 45 years. Betty and George enjoyed spending summers at their lake residence on Juno Lake. George preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2011.
Betty was a member of Calvary Chapel in Granger, and loved her church very much. She was a certified nursing assistant and retired after 30 years of private duty nursing at Milton Home and Hospice. Betty previously served as a crossing guard at John F. Nuner Elementary School.
Betty is survived by her son, George Taulbee, Jr. of South Bend; daughters, Karen K. Taulbee of South Bend, Teresa (Mark) Jellison of Osceola, and Lisa (Rodney) Martin of Mishawaka; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Brian Kineman; three sisters, Beatrice O’Neal, Marie Kelly and Eva Hively; and her brother, William Shoemaker.
Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park. Rev. Bob Moore, pastor of Calvary Chapel will officiate. Graveside services will be private in Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
