Several Warsaw City Projects Continuing To Progress
Warsaw will undergo some major changes in the coming years, all of which should improve residents’ ability to get around town and the surrounding area.
According to Jeremy Skinner of the Warsaw Planning Department, the goal for the Husky Trail project is to have everything completed by the end of 2015. The project will provide a new driveway that will lead from Husky Trail to the new YMCA and the planned Parkview Health facility next door, both on Mariner Drive.
The Market Street project will bring a multi-use trail to the street that will serve as a connector between downtown Warsaw and the town of Winona Lake. According to Skinner, the hope is to begin construction on phase one of the project, which will be the section between Argonne Road and Bronson Street, during the week of May 4 (see: East Market Street Construction Schedule). He stated that the hope is to then start the engineering for the section spanning form Bronson Street to Hickory Street soon after construction begins on phase one. The Market Street project is an Indiana Department of Transportation Project, and Skinner said that he expects the project, as a whole, to last between three and four years.
Skinner explained that there have been no renderings on the Buffalo Street Corridor project yet, but that the engineering phase of the project is expected to begin either in June or July of this year. He said completing the project will most likely take up most of the remainder of the year.
The first phase of the pedestrian/bike path will be completed as it will make up the Market Street project, but Skinner remarked that there is no timetable for the remainder of the path.
