Frederic W. Sharkey
Frederic W. Sharkey, 76, of Etna Green, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Fred was born on July 28, 1938, to Harold and Edna (Heisler) Sharkey in Plymouth. He had been a lifelong resident of Etna Green. Fred was a 1956 graduate of Etna Green High School. He was known by everyone as the “handyman” who looked out for everyone who needed a job done. There was no job he wouldn’t attempt. He had worked in the construction field, owned his own excavating and construction company, was a bus driver for Etna Green School and was known at Holderman’s Meat Market or his meat cutting ability. Fred liked to fish, collect windmills and light houses and enjoyed his trips to the Soo Locks in Michigan. He was a member of the Etna Green United Methodist Church.
Fred married Judith Bemenderfer, Oct. 24, 1959; she passed away Nov. 30, 1987. He then married Cynthia Paunovich, Aug. 21, 1999, she survives along with four daughters: Amy (Mrs. Darin) Yoder, Syracuse, N.Y.; Beth (Mike) Albert, Brandon, Miss.; Carla (Ted) Penrod, Warsaw; Heather Rush, Syracuse; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister: Bonnie Feldman, Etna Green; brother: Alan (Pat) Sharkey, Bourbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judith Sharkey.
You are invited from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, to celebrate Fred’s life with family and friends at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon, Indiana.
The family asks that memorial contributions made in his memory be to Etna Green First Responders or Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
