Syracuse Library Events This Week

Story time finished up March at the Animal Hospital of Syracuse. Manager LueAnn Edwards let the children pet a cat, look at x-rays and visit the kennels. The Syracuse Library is hosting story time adventures in the community through April.

National Library Week
Libraries across the nation draw attention to the role of libraries in the community when they celebrate National Library Week. The mission of a library is to reflect the needs of the community. The Syracuse Library offers a variety of materials for checkout that include movies and books to toys and eBooks.
The library offers a variety of services that include free use of the internet, notary and information questions, along with paid services such as copies and faxes. Today’s library provides places for people to meet both informally and with free performances.
The Syracuse library is sponsoring two events during the week. Brook Pointe Inn is providing the prizes for two winners in a closest “Guess The Number” contest, where contestants guess the number of colored sticks. Guesses may be placed in the children’s department for a family swim pass, or the winner in the adult department wins two adult passes.
National Library Week is also amnesty week for Syracuse library items that are overdue. No fines are assessed on books, movies, or CDs that are past due and returned during the week.
The Puppy Place
Story time is adventuring to Teapup to see what it takes to birth and raise puppies. Children will tour the facility to see where the puppies are housed and the way they are prepared for life with a family. The group meets at the library at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 13, or at the business, which is located at East CR 1300N.
Art At The Syracuse Library
Master the Art of Reading is an adult reading contest in conjunction with a broader series of events happening this spring at the library. Adults will enter a ballot for each book they checkout and return to the Syracuse Library. Entries will be drawn in a final drawing on Saturday, May 23, for many art related prizes. A silent auction of unused artwork from the library is scheduled for June and winners of the reading contest will have auction dollars to spend at the silent auction. Master the Art of Reading begins with books returned on Monday, April 13.
