Raymond J. Carich
Raymond J. Carich, 75, of Nappanee, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born July 18, 1939, in Lake County to George and Mary (Rigich) Carich.
Raymond was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary and attended Indiana University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ray moved to Nappanee in 1970. He retired as a detective sergeant from the Indiana State Police in 1996. He was a former police chief for the city of Nappanee. He also worked for 11 years as security director for Goshen General Hospital. He retired in 2013 as a para special-ed mentor at NorthWood High School. Raymond was a former member of Bent Oak Golf Club and a member of McCormick Creek Golf Course.
On Oct. 20, 2000, he married Cyndi Cripe in Goshen. She survives along with a daughter: Kristen Wargo, Goshen; son: Mike (Brandy) Carich, Nappanee; stepdaughter: Lindy (Jason) Lehman, Goshen; stepson: Brett Laub, Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren: Morgan and Cade Carich; Taylor and Tinley Lehman; and sisters: Evelyn Marovich, Valparaiso; and Patti (Howard) Price, Littleton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Gaboyan.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral Services will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. Terry Tyler officiating. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be at a later date in Union Center Cemetery.
