The schools are closed for Spring Break and the Syracuse Library has activities. Family-friendly, PG-rated movies are shown all weekdays at 2 p.m. Come for a free show with popcorn on Monday through Friday in the meeting room.
A showing of the 2003 movie, Fahrenheit 451, is free and open for viewing at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7. Watching the movie is a great way to learn the story in a quick and easy sitting. The movie is provided to the library from The Big Read and Kosciusko Literacy Foundation. A copy of the book can be borrowed from the yellow tubs in the local libraries. The books can either be returned to the library or passed on to a friend.
The adult book club, One Book, One Hour, is discussing Bradbury’s story at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, Ray Bradbury wrote about a time when he saw book burnings that were part of fascism and oppression. Today there are many forms of censorship. Anyone 16 and older is encouraged to come to a discussion of the book, Fahrenheit 451 on April 8.
The firemen in Fahrenheit 451 started fires to burn books and punish people. The firemen in our community do many helpful activities to save people and property. Story time is venturing to the Syracuse Turkey Creek Fire Department 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6. Firemen have more jobs than putting out fires, and there are many kinds of fires. Children are invited to bring a parent for a visit to the fire station.
