Donations Sought For Man Injured In Parking Accident
Friends and family of a Syracuse man injured during a parking accident in his own driveway have started seeking donations online in order to assist with expenses while he is unable to work. Individuals can either donate money online or send money directly to Ben Freestone’s home.
Freestone had just returned home from grocery shopping and was standing in his driveway when a family member accidentally hit the accelerator of their vehicle while attempting to park. Freestone’s leg was trapped between the bumpers of the family’s two vehicles.
The accident resulted in damage to the sciatic nerve in his right leg, causing him to lose motor function in the limb. Freestone stated that it is hard to say if his leg will ever regain the same level of functionality, “I am hopeful that I will regain all the motor function in my right foot, but the surgeon didn’t seem as positive about that.”
Freestone, an employee at Keystone RV, is unable to work due to the injury. He is now facing injury related medical expenses on top of all of his previous financial obligations. According to Freestone, he is facing about a 12-week recovery period for the injury. He had surgery on March 19 and will visit the doctor Monday, March 30, for the first time since the surgery.
When asked about the efforts to raise funds for him, Freestone remarked, “I am not looking to get rich, I am just looking to get through this without losing my house and my truck.”
The funds for Freestone’s assistance are being raised online through donations from the public. Donations can be made anonymously if desired. Those interested in donating can do so by visiting youcaring.com. If you would like to send the money directly to Freestone’s residence, the address is 72285, CR 133, Syracuse, IN 46567.
