Dennis W. Heckaman, 62, of Nappanee, died unexpectedly at 5 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the Emergency Room at Elkhart General  Hospital. He was born June 11, 1952, in Elkhart to Roland E. and Patricia J. (Schmucker) Heckaman.

Dennis lived his lifetime in this area. He was a 1970 graduate of NorthWood High School, Nappanee Division.  On May 1, 1971, he married Brenda Stouder.  Mr. Heckaman had worked for NIPSCO for 35 years. He retired as supervisor for NIPSCO Gas Divisions. 

Surviving is his wife: Brenda; daughter: Danya (Jeremy ‘Moe’) Pippen, Nappanee;  son: Derick Heckaman, Nappanee; grandchildren: Cody Pippen, Erick Heckaman, Amanda Heckaman; father: Roland E. Heckaman, Wakarusa; sister: Cheryl (Wayne) Kline; and mother-in-law: June Stouder, Wakarusa. 

He was preceded in death by his mother: Patricia Heckaman.

Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 20. Rev. Janet McFall-Brown will officiate. Burial will be Union Center Cemetery.
