Police in Muncie are determined to find out how a meth lab ended up inside a Wal-Mart restroom late Thursday night, March 12.

Authorities were contacted by employees of the store at 1501 E. 29th St. at approximately 11:30 p.m. regarding a suspicious backpack in the men’s restroom. Upon arrival, officers found an active meth lab inside the backpack.

Members of the meth suppression team went to work dismantling the meth lab and removing the harmful chemicals from the building. The health department has mandated that both restrooms would need to remain closed until they can be professionally decontaminated.

It is so far unclear who left the backpack with the meth lab in the restroom, but police are investigating.
