Former Astronaut Keynotes Annual Opportunity Banquet

The 12th annual Opportunity Banquet, sponsored by the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, in collaboration with the College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science, will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 27. The event takes place in the Walb Student Union International Ballroom.
The evening will include a career fair, networking dinner, and a keynote presentation by former astronaut Robert “Hoot” Gibson. Gibson will speak on “Lessons of Aviation, Space, and the Cold War.”
The Opportunity Banquet is open to the public. Proceeds from the event support the IPFW chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. Tickets for the event are $30.

Captain Robert “Hoot” Gibson has flown in space, combat and races. Across his career, he piloted more than 100 types of military and civilian aircraft, including four space shuttles. He earned many awards and decorations and set a number of world records. He was inducted into the Astronaut Hall of Fame in 2003.
