CASA Hopes To Bolster Cause During April’s Child Abuse Awareness Month
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and organizations like CASA of Kosciusko County will be hosting a variety of events and promotions to help raise awareness towards the cause.
There will be several fun events taking place both in the interest of having a good time and spreading awareness of Child Abuse. CASA will be partnering with Beaman Home and Victim’s Assist to host a Hero Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25. The race will begin at 121 N. Lake St. in Warsaw. Participants are encouraged to “dress like a hero” and wear capes, masks, boots or anything else in line with the the notion of being heroic. Registration is going on now, and those who wish to register may do so here.
On Wednesday, April, 1, CASA is encouraging community members to wear an article of blue clothing to support the cause and show support for the efforts on a national scale. A shirt, pants or hat will suffice.
Representatives from Kosciusko County CASA will be selling blue pinwheels, which CASA Program Manager Janelle Meyer explained are the child abuse equivalent of pink ribbons for breast cancer. Members of CASA will be out and about in the community selling these pinwheels at area businesses. They will also have them for sale at Warsaw’s First Friday, on April 3.
