Margaret Ellen Virginia Kessler, 93, of Wabash, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born July 10, 1921, in Jasper County, Indiana to Ernest and Gladys P. (Smith) Rees.

Margaret was a 1939 graduate of Lagro High School. She married Merle F. Kessler in Lagro on September 21, 1939. He died August 2, 1994. Margaret was a member of Wabash Christ United Methodist Church and Lydia Circle at the church. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter: Marcia J Irwin, Carmel, Ind.; her good friend: Gene Bucher, Wabash; six grandchildren: Jeff (Tammy) Irwin, Indianapolis, Elizabeth (Ken) Witte, Newburgh, Ind., Mark Kessler,Nokomis, Fla., Richard (Terri) Kessler, Ligonier, Dawn Kessler, Houston, Texas, and Kari Omodt, Ocoee, Fla.; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Loretta Kessler, Houston; two sisters: Hazel Huffman, South Bend, and Charlotte Morrill, Syracuse; and her brother: Charles Rees, Huntington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Richard and Thomas Kessler; two brothers: Rev. Oscar Rees and Rev. Howard Rees; and two sisters: Pearl Miller and Lois Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 7 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor J. Mark Whinery officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Ind. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Saturday.
