Four Indiana Hospitals Named Among Top 100 In US
Truven Health Analytics has released its annual list of 100 Top Hospitals and four Indiana hospitals have made the cut, including St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne, St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel and Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Since 1993, the study has identified US hospitals with the best overall performance based on factors such as financial stability, operational efficiency, patient safety, quality of inpatient and outpatient care and customer reviews. Nearly 3,000 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals were evaluated.
“This year’s 100 Top Hospitals represent the highest national standards in hospital care and management today,” stated Jean Chenoweth, senior vice president for performance improvement and the 100 Top Hospitals program at Truven Health Analytics. “They set the benchmark for peers around the country to follow, consistently delivering outstanding quality of care, satisfaction and community value at a reasonable cost.”
The study also showed that if all hospitals in the US performed at the level of this year’s winners:
– 126,471 additional lives could be saved
– 108,926 additional patients could be complication-free
– $1.8 billion in inpatient costs could be saved
– The average patient stay would decrease by half a day
