UPDATE: Pedestrian Hit In Syracuse
Steven S. Sharp, 64, N. Huntington St., Syracuse, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road Friday night. The accident occurred at North Huntington Street near West Allen Street.
Sharp suffered a broken leg, head trauma and complaining of stomach and back pain. According to the Syracuse Police, Sharp was listed in critical condition. He was on a ventilator due to being very ill and unable to speak with officers about the accident at this time.
Joshua R. Auer, 21, North Main Street, Syracuse, was driver of the Jeep which struck Sharp.
When police arrived paramedics were tending to Sharp who was underneath the vehicle driven by Auer.
According to the police report, Auer had turned onto North Huntington Street. He stated it was dark and he may have looked down to turn down his radio, but did not see Sharp in the middle of his lane until Sharp was struck with the front center of his vehicle. Auer stated he was traveling approximately 25 miles per hour and stopped as fast as he could, but the road was icy.
The investigation is continuing.
Damage to Auer’s vehicle was estimated up to $2,500.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Department and Paramedic Service along with Syracuse Police Department are responding to a person injury accident.
The emergency agencies have been called to Huntington and Wood streets for a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident.
