UPDATE: Water Main Break In Syracuse
UPDATE: Syracuse Street Department originally reported a water main break as the cause for several local residents being without water Tuesday afternoon.
After Northshore Drive, Long Drive and Shore Lane residents took to Facebook to post their grievances, the town clerk reported water would be back on within a couple hours of the first calls reporting the problem.
The issue was actually a damaged service line which broke when town employees began work on it. After replacing the line completely, Syracuse decided to also repair a second service line that could have caused trouble down the road.
Jeremy Sponseller, Syracuse Public Works, said, “The water was never shut off completely.” In determining the damage, the town slowed down water pressure with a valve, which Sponseller believes left residents with very low amounts of water. Sponseller reports the water was back on at full pressure just a little after 2 p.m., although town workers were still doing repairs. Many homes in the area are on hills, or have multiple stories, which Sponseller blames for residents thinking it was a complete lack of water.
