Andre The Kangaroo Moves From Fort Wayne To Michigan
The Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square in Saginaw, MI, has welcomed a new Eastern Grey kangaroo. He arrived from the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.
Andre the kangaroo is 2 years old and joins the zoo’s other kangaroo, Nikki, who has been in residence since 2005. Nikki is considered elderly for a kangaroo at the age of 17, as most members of the species live to be about 10 years old.
“At first it seemed as though Nikki did not appreciate a young and rambunctious whippersnapper leaping about her home,” a statement from the zoo reads. “However, zookeepers have now observed them eating, drinking and exploring together.”
The zoo is currently closed for the season, but those who wish to see Andre and Nikki the kangaroos will be able to do so in the Outback Walkabout exhibit between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
