NLC Issues Wave Of All-Conference Nods
GOSHEN – The Northern Lakes Conference officially released All-NLC selections for wrestling, boys swimming and girls swimming for the 2014-15 season.
It was classic NLC domination for three of the conference’s historically dominant programs in Northridge boys and girls swimming and Elkhart Memorial wrestling as the three programs ran undefeated and untouched in round robin and tournament action, each claiming team titles along with a host of All-NLC selections.
The Northridge boys swim team had eight members make the lists, with Camden Koch, Spencer Lehman, Lucas McLain, Logan Elijah, Seth Cripe and Jeremy Burbrink All-NLC and Honorable Mention All-NLC to Jesse Drake and Connor Glenn. Warsaw, which won five event titles at the NLC Championships, had Spencer Davidson, Jayden Parrett, Zach Taylor, Josh Miller and Matt Wildman all earn All-NLC nods while Ethan Cook was an Honorable Mention All-NLC performer. Warsaw skipper Tony DeBrota, in his first season as a head coach, was tabbed Co-Coach of the Year with Concord’s Tom Johnson.
Wawasee had two boys swimmers make All-NLC in Brady Robinson and Logan Brugh.
Concord’s Stephen Krecsmar and Goshen’s Hudson Kay were All-NLC and Minutemen Cameron Culp, Alex Mark and Redskins Jacob Isnogle and Mitchell Walters were Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Northridge’s girls swim team were well represented in the All-NLC honors, with Katie Hughes, Lauren Miller, Melissa Bailey, Sydnee Emerson and Sydney Boyer all on the list. Wawasee had six All-NLC in Mikala Mawhorter, Paige Miller, Bre Robinson, Kendra Miller, Kayla Hershberger and Shelby Adams with Anna Park Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Brenna Morgan was the lone Warsaw girls swimmer to make the list as All-NLC.
Concord’s Lauren Boone and Ashley Schrock, Goshen’s Emma Hussey and Memorial’s Ally Bailey were All-NLC while Concord’s Maddisen Lantz and Sydney Shuff, Goshen’s Natalie Evans and Olivia Wenger, Memorial’s Jenna Crane and NorthWood’s Jamie McBride were Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Joe Keller of Northridge was voted Coach of the Year for girls swimming.
Memorial had nine total wrestlers earn conference accolades, with Tony Vaughn, David Eli, Marcus Mejia, Eugene Moody-Neukom, Ronnie Longbrake and Nick Ritchie all making All-NLC and Christian Mejia, Blade Corpe and Phillip Mathiak Honorable Mention All-NLC.
Warsaw’s Kyle Hatch, Rory Nolin and Anthony Penn were All-NLC with teammate Jeremy Lee Honorable Mention All-NLC. Wawasee had Tristin Ponsler and Zach Ford make All-NLC.
Rounding out the All-NLC wrestlers were Tanner DeMien, Plymouth’s Osman Solis, Marcos Rodriguez, Jeremy Spinx, Zane DeVault and Jacob LeFree, and Goshen’s Joel Byler and Derek Paz. Honorable Mention All-NLC went to Dylan Swank and Mason Cross of Northridge, Seth Shroyer of Concord and Zach BeMiller of NorthWood.
Memorial head coach Brian Weaver was voted wrestling Coach of the Year.
