Alice H. McQueen
Alice H. McQueen, 88, of South Whitley, passed away at 5:06 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at her residence.
Born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Cambria, Wis., she was the daughter of William Hayden and Margaret (Jones) Hughes. Alice attended Fall River High School in Fall River, Wis., and graduated with the class of 1943. She married James E. McQueen, Sr. on March 10, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work for a short time at the Blue Bell Jean Factory as an administrative assistant.
Survivors include her sons: Jim (Susan) McQueen, Ron (Julia) McQueen, and Scott (Tammy) McQueen, all of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother: Frank (Adele) Hughes of Blair, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: James McQueen, Sr.; brothers: Edwin R. Hughes, Emryce Hughes, John R. Hughes, O. W. Hughes, Robert C. Hughes, William H. Hughes Jr.; sisters: Edith M. Hughes and Catherine A. Hughes Mills.
In accordance with Alice’s wishes there will be no visitation or services at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in memory of Alice may be made to the Humane Society of Whitley County.
