Dean Adkins
Dean Adkins, 66, of Pierceton, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, At Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
Born Dec. 16, 1948, to Randall Adkins and Lexie (Conn) Adkins in Martin, Ky. On May 29, 1976, he married Paula Sue Bailey in Lima, Ohio, who survives in Pierceton.
He leaves behind six children: Paula Moore (John), Winona Lake; Bobbi Deane Martin, Pierceton; Paul Dean Adkins Jr (Celina), Pierceton; Kenneth Lee Lasley, Elkhart; Sheila Yohe (Ed), South Whitley; Daniel Dean Adkins (Monica), Pierceton. He was grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Mia, Kierstan, Madeline, Brady, Paige, Anika, Seth, Nick, Micah, and Judea.
He is survived by his mother: Lexie Stephens; His 15 siblings include Ronnie Stephens; Don (Dian) Adkins; Evelyn ‘Cookie’ (Bill) Bryant; Faye Campbell; Danny (Vickie) Adkins; Gary (Cecelia) Adkins, Debra (Terry) Thompson, Rita (Kenny) Elder, Robert ‘Jr’ (Melanie) Stephens; Tena (Brooks) Huffer; Lena (Joe) Ball; Joe Stephens; Belva Stephens; and an inducted brother Sam (Judy) Lambert. He was an uncle to 142; a godparent to Caleb Divine and Molly Whisman, a Marine.
He was owner/operator of Dean’s Tree Service, a trade he learned at the age of 16.
He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather: Robert Stephens; his sister: Onda Baker; and his brother: Ray Stephens.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Â to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Church. Pastor Bob Brown will officiate the services. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
