Madeline Hayden, 18, of Hendricks county was crowned the 57th Miss Indiana state fair queen
Madeline Hayden, 18, of Hendricks county was crowned the 57th Miss Indiana state fair queen Sunday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum. She is the first contestant from Hendricks county to be named fair queen. Hayden is a freshman at Purdue University, majoring in speech language and hearing sciences.
“I was hoping to make the top ten. That was like a dream, so this is amazing,” said Hayden. “I know what it’s like to look up to a girl and be excited that she is the queen, so I can’t wait to interact with all the kids and all the fairgoers.”
There were 85 contestants, each representing their home county. First runner-up went to Alexandra Abney of Johnson county. Second runner-up was Melissa Smoker, LaPorte county. Third runner-up was Jacinda Thompson, Gibson county. Fourth runner-up was Jessie Earhart, Huntington county. Kimberly Carcamo from Newton county was named Miss Congeniality.
