Peru Tops Whitko In Tourney Play
PERU – The Whitko boys basketball team dropped a 60-39 final to host Peru Monday in a semifinal game of the Miami County Tournament.
The host Tigers led just 17-16 after the opening period. Peru then outscored the Wildcats 14-0 in the second quarter to take control of the contest.
River West led Whitko with 15 points and five rebounds.
Nate Walpole had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats, who are now 0-7 on the season.
Cole Kessie had eight points and four rebounds and Devon Adkins two points and six rebounds. Tanner Gaff had four rebounds.
Whitko plays North Miami (1-6) in the consolation game today at 2 p.m.
Peru (4-5) will play Maconaquah (3-3) today at 8 p.m. in the championship game.
Maconaquah topped North Miami 53-37 Monday in the other semifinal contest.
