Etna Green Couple Jailed On Fraud/Forgery Charges
Rebecca R. Hendrix, 25, and Mychal D. Loper, 24, both of 7979 N. 600W, Etna Green, were arrested Saturday. Hendrix was initially charged with theft and Loper was charged with fraud.
However, court records show both face charges of fraud on a financial institution, a level 5 felony; forgery, a level 6 felony; and theft, a class A misdemeanor.
Kosciusko County Detective J.D. Ayres states in an affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 9, a female reported checks were stolen from a closed Chiphone Federal Credit Union account and there were checks written on that account without her knowledge, permission and/or consent. Hendrix and her boyfriend, Mychal Loper were believed responsible for writing those checks.
Ayres spoke with the manager of Beacon Credit Union who reported several checks had been cashed at that location on a closed account and as a result of the closed account payment was denied to the credit union. Police also spoke to the manager at Chiphone Credit Union who verified the victim’s account was closed on Oct. 14.
Police found three checks written between Nov. 21 and Nov. 24 being written out to Hendrix and allegedly signed by the victim. The checks totaled $680.
The investigation additionally found two checks written on Nov. 24 and Nov. 26, to Loper and signed by the victim. These two checks, totaled $600.
All checks were cashed at Beacon Credit Union.

Hendrix and Loper were held on $4,000 surety bond each.
