Two Robbery Suspects Identified Via Facebook
SOUTH BEND – Photos on Facebook have helped to identify a suspect in two South Bend armed robberies. Federal agents filed a criminal complaint Monday, Dec. 15, accusing Damon Watford and a Facebook friend, Jermont Moore, of robbing two businesses at gunpoint.
The incidents in question occurred Nov. 15 at the OC Mini Mart on Olive Street and Nov. 21 at Family Dollar on W. Western Avenue. A sawed off shotgun was used in both robberies and a total of $353 was stolen from the two stores. After the second robbery police spoke to Moore, who was in the store at the time of the robbery. A police report stated he was believed to be a lookout.
The complaint alleges Watford posted photos of himself on social media wearing clothes that match those worn by one of the robbers in surveillance video from the businesses. The suspects in the videos also resemble Watford and Moore.
Watford has reportedly admitted to robbing both businesses with Moore and has been booked into the St. Joseph county jail. He is facing two counts of robbery and a gun charge. Moore has not yet been booked, but is charged with one count of robbery.
