UPDATE: Accident In Front Of Sleepy Owl
A head-on crash south of Syracuse today has injured three people, one of those critically.
Officers and emergency personnel responded today at 2:44 p.m. to a 9-1-1 report of a head-on vehicular crash near the intersection of SR 13 and Waco Drive. Responder arrived and located the driver of a 2006 Pontiac Gran Prix, identified as Peggy A. Page, 37, Pierceton, in critical condition. Her passenger, Shaun M. Church, 37, New Paris, was removed from the vehicle and transported to Goshen Hospital in serious condition with chest injuries.
Page was extricated and subsequently transported from the scene by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
The driver of the second vehicle involved, identified as James A. Brumbaugh, 66, Milford, was transported by Syracuse Paramedics to Lutheran Hospital, with chest injuries and numerous lacerations.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./investigation team members stated that a preliminary investigation of the crash determined that Page had crossed the centerline of SR 13 near the intersection of Waco Drive for an unknown reason, striking Brumbaugh’s 2003 GMC Envoy.
The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. Team was assisted at the scene by the Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse/Turkey Creek Fire Department & Paramedics, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash is still currently under investigation.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory Fire Department and Paramedics, along with police agencies from Syracuse and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, are responding to a personal injury accident on SR 13, in front of Sleepy Owl, Syracuse.
Initial reports are that it was a head-on collision. Be prepared for traffic to be congested and possibly re-routed.
An air ambulance has been called and a landing zone is being set up at the Wawasee High School parking lot.
Motorist are asked to avoid SR 13 near the Sleepy Owl as emergency personnel work to clear the scene.
