Tom Cameron Invite Not Favorable For Wawasee
MERRILLVILLE – The Wawasee wrestling team competed in the Tom Cameron Invite Saturday morning and the trip was not quite worth the drive from a team standpoint.
The Warriors went 0-5 at the annual invite hosted by Merrillville High School. The host Pirates went undefeated at 5-0.
Tristin Ponsler made hay for Wawasee in the 126-pound class by going 5-0 on the day, picking up two wins by fall and two forfeits. Stephen Possell was 3-2 for the Warriors, pikcing up a well-earned win in triple overtime during the match with Merrillville. Zack Ford was the only other Warrior to pick up a win on the day.
No. 5 Penn was 4-1 in the event. Harrison and South Bend Clay both went 3-2, Kankakee Valley was 2-3 while John Glenn was 1-4.
Wawasee will host Concord Thursday night for its lone home dual of the season.
