SYRACUSE – Taking one for the team took on a different meaning Wednesday evening as 16 teams took aim at each other for bragging rights at the Put The Hammer Down Dodgeball Tourney at Wawasee Middle School.
The event was a fundraiser for the Wawasee High School chapter of the Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy. The organization decided to support the Habitat For Humanity of Kosciusko County which will build a home in North Webster.
The goal of the event was to raise $2,000, which organizer and Wawasee KYLA member Owen Donahoe reported the event exceeded the goal as of the conclusion of the tournament. A final total was still being determined Wednesday evening.
Winning the dodgeball tournament was the team representing Valley Springs Fellowship, which beat the Average Joes from Corbin Tool.
