UPDATE: ATV Accident in Syracuse
UPDATE: According to a press release from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Rick Neff, 57, Syracuse, was operating an ATV off road near the 11,000 block of Webster Road in Syracuse at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
Neff stated the throttle stuck on the vehicle. He attempted a right turn, but was unable to execute it.
Neff was thrown from the ATV just before it struck a tree. Neff was reportedly not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Goshen Hospital in serious condition. The vehicle was estimated to be traveling between 60 and 70 mph, and reportedly snapped the tree it struck in two.
IDNR conservation officers would like to remind everyone to wear a helmet and be aware of location of kill switches on ATVs and other off-road vehicles.
Authorities are currently responding to an ATV accident on State Road 13 in Syracuse.
