Area Gridders Earn Honors
Six area high school football players have been honored by the Associated Press.
The half dozen outstanding prep performers all earned honorable mention accolades on the annual AP All-State team.
Chosen as honorable mention All-State picks for Class 6-A were the Warsaw trio of Riley Rhoades (receiver), Caleb Woolridge (defensive line) and Dylan Childers (linebacker).
The Wawasee duo of quarterback Gage Reinhard and receiver Clayton Cook earned honors for Class 4-A.
Whitko senior Tanner Hughes, who set several school records this fall, was an honorable mention choice to the Class 3-A team.
Among area players earning first-team All-State honors from the AP were receiver Jerrell Pointdexter of Concord, offensive lineman Mike Fickert of Northridge and defensive back Cam Eveland of Plymouth.
The AP All-State teams are selected annually with input from Indiana media members and high school coaches.
