Warsaw Stars Among All-State Honorees
The Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) named several Warsaw Community High School boys and girls soccer players among its lists of state awards recipients.
Junior midfielder Elizabeth Van Wormer was tabbed as Third-Team All-State by ISCA, and also earned All-District District 2 First-Team honors to go with the ISCA Showcase for District 2 as well as 2015 Top Team for District 2.
Senior defender Clair Snodgrass was named to the All-District and ISCA Showcase lists.
The duo helped Warsaw win its eighth sectional championship and fifth in a row this past October.
Senior Sam Allbritten was acknowledged as Honorable Mention All-State as well as All-District First Team and ISCA Showcase. Teammate and senior Peyton Long was tabbed Second-Team All-District and senior Tito Cuellar was chosen for the District 2 Top Team.
Several other local soccer players were named to the respective ISCA lists.
ISCA Showcase girls players included Alyssa Hershberger and Jelitza Palomino of Goshen, Casey Buchanan and Jaquelyn Deshone of Concord, and Bailey O’Dell and Ellie Lengacher of Northridge.
Palomino was named Second-Team All-State and Lengacher was Third-Team All-State while Penn star Kam Solomon was a First-Team selection. Hershberger and O’Dell were Honorable Mention All-State choices.
The 2015 Top Team for District 2 includes Palomino, Lengacher, Tori Moore of Concord, Alexx Freshour of Elkhart Memorial, Rylee Beck of NorthWood and Stephanie Mowery of Westview.
The All-District First Team for District 2 includes Alyssa Trosper of Goshen, Hershberger, Palomino, Deshone, O’Dell and Lengacher on the First Team with Jade Thompson of Northridge, Buchanan and Freshour on the Second Team.
For the boys All-State, Goshen’s Isaac Huerta took away state Player of the Year in helping Goshen to its first state championship in boys soccer. Huerta was also named First-Team All-State, First-Team All-District and to the ISCA Showcase.
Goshen boys head coach Viratham Mounsithiraj was named ISCA State Coach of the Year and also overall and large school Coach of the Year for District 2. Goshen girls head coach Dan Graber was the large school and overall Coach of the Year for District 2. Argos boys head coach Todd VanDerWeele was tabbed the District 2 small school Coach of the Year.
Completing the All-State selections were Alex Ramirez of Elkhart Central on the Second Team, Damon Binkley of Argos on the Third Team, and Felix Mayorga of Elkhart Memorial and Hunter Hardin of Northridge as Honorable Mention All-State selections.
District 2 Top Team members included Chase Brown of Argos, Alex Lowe of Bremen, Drake DeWitt of Columbia City, Nicholas Bissonnette of Culver Academy, JT Plavchak of Goshen, Philip Keller of Northridge, Jacob Berkey of Westview, Ramirez and Mayorga.

t 2 All-District First Team selections were Lucas Hunter of Westview, Binkley, Ramirez, Mayorga and Hardin. Second-Team All-District were Josiah Osborn of Argos, Roberto Gonzalez of Bremen and Ross Tepe of Elkhart Central.
