Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:
5:33 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, North Syracuse-Webster Road, west of North CR 700E, Syracuse. Driver: Jennifer N. Irwin, 24, North Syracuse-Webster Road, Syracuse. Irwin hit the accelerator instead of the brake when she saw a deer in the roadway. Her vehicle began to fish tail, going off the road and hitting a utility pole. She signed off on medical care at the scene. Damage up to $5,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
2:07 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, South Huntington Street, Syracuse. Drivers; John F. Monik, 66, East Hatchery Road, Syracuse, and Shawndel R. Mansfield, 42, North Warner Road, Syracuse. Monik was leaving the Wilby’s gas station parking lot when he thought he was too close the vacuum station hoses. When he backed his vehicle he did not see the Mansfield vehicle behind him, hitting the vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, East Market and South Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Driver: Derrick A. Leake, 35, Sand Hill Lane, Warsaw, driving City of Warsaw vehicle. a leaf collection hose came loose from the leaf collection machine being towed by Leake and hit a parked vehicle registered to Brenda J. Rigdon, North Ward Lane, North Webster. Damage up to $1,000.
1:06 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, East Winona Avenue and South Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Driver: Lynn M. Nelson, 40, North Arbutus Trail, Warsaw, and Tiffany N. Waldo, 34, South CR 780 W, Mentone. Nelson’s vehicle struck the back of the Waldo vehicle at the traffic light. Damage up to $5,000.
12:50 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, East Winona Avenue and South Scott Street, Warsaw. Drivers: John F. Shepherd, 46, Rosemont Avenue, Warsaw, and Douglas E. Marsillett, 46, West CR 700S, Claypool. Both drivers believed they had the green light causing the vehicles to collide in the intersection. Ronald R. Spaulding, 48, South McClellan Street, Warsaw, a passenger in the Shepherd vehicle, complained of back pain. Damage up to $10,000.
10:36 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, East Winona Avenue east of South Park Avenue. Drivers: Nicholas A. Smith, 63, East CR 575S, Pierceton, and William F. Bowerman, 60, North Antler Drive, Warsaw. Smith was waiting to turn left onto Winona Avenue from a private business and saw Bowerman was turning left from across the street. As Smith started to turn, he assumed Bowerman would turn into the normal lane of travel, but instead Bowerman stayed in the center left turn lane, causing Smith’s vehicle to hit the Bowerman vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
