WCHS Supports Our Troops
By DANI BARKEY
Chief Accountability Officer,
Warsaw Community School Corporation
Warsaw Community High School wrote over 1,200 Christmas cards and collected 985 individual snacks and powdered drink packets for bottles of water to send to our soldiers.
The Dream Council at Warsaw Community High School organized the school wide project to collect the cards, snacks and drink packets. Teachers and students gave a few minutes of their time during the school day to brighten the Christmas season of a Hero serving our country overseas.
Montana Speicherweimer and Rex Weimer represented Hoosier Helping Heroes Tuesday morning on Veteran’s Day to accept the high school’s donation. They expressed their gratitude and shared stories of the difference it makes in a soldier’s and sailor’s life.
The Dream Council is open to all students and meets on Monday in the Media Center right after school. The Dream Council exists to give all students a voice to dream and enrich the lives of others by giving back to the school and community with their time, talent and treasures.
For more information about The Dream Council contact Luisa Davis, junior class guidance counselor, or Emily Shearer, sophomore class guidance counselor, at Warsaw Community High School.
This project was completed through Hoosiers Helping Heroes, a not-for-profit organization which gathers and sends care packages to our troops serving overseas at hoosiershelpingheroes.org.
