Man Tired Of Living In Hotel, Assaults Female

Initially called in as a potential suicide attempt, with the suspect having a knife, police instead found a domestic disturbance at Economy Inn, Lake City Highway, Warsaw.
The call was received at 2:20 p.m. Sunday.
Rex A. Westerman Jr., 43, 413 W. Prairie St., Warsaw, was arrested on charges of strangulation, domestic battery and interfering with reporting a crime. His bond was set at $2,000 surety.
Warsaw Police report Westerman was arguing with a female over their quality of living. He was tired of living at the hotel and wanted to move out. During the argument she started throwing items from the hotel room at him, hitting him on the left side of the neck. Westerman suffered an approximately six-inch abrasion.
Westerman allegedly became irate throwing the female against the wall. When she attempted to get away, she was thrown onto the bed. He began to strangle her with his hands. The female sustained noticeable marks around her neck. She refused medical attention at the scene.
Police also learned that while she was attempting to call 911, Westerman grabbed her cell phone and threw it against the wall, breaking the phone.
