Gregory Allen Moening

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Gregory A. Moening, 31, 4614 E. Old Trail Drive, Columbia City, was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail for molestation of a child under 14 years of age.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor, Moening’s wife received a message via Facebook from the alleged victim on Sept. 16, in which she stated that she had been sexually abused by Moening.

The victim later informed a Child Protective Services Investigator that sometime around the end of May 2012 and early June 2012 she had been visiting a friend at a location. Moening had also been present. According to the victim, she was wearing a low-cut shirt and when she bent over Moening asked, “since I have seen one, can I see the other?” The victim further advised either later on that day or the next day was when the inappropriate sexual contact occurred.

The victim advised due to the significant age differential between her and Moening, who was 29 at the time, she had felt too ashamed to tell anyone about the incident previously.

Moening was booked on a $5,000 surety bond.
