Leesburg Elementary Wal-Mart’s School of the Year
On Friday, Oct. 3, Leesburg Elementary School was honored as Wal-Mart’s School of the Year.
Brock Heyneman, store manager of Wal-Mart’s Warsaw location, says it’s the company’s way of giving back to the local community. This is the third year the local Wal-Mart has honored a local school.
Heyneman says the school of the year is chosen by the associates at the Warsaw location. For winning, 20 teachers at Leesburg Elementary were given $50 gift cards to use for their classrooms. Names were drawn to select each recipient.
Each time a name was called, students roared with applause. Gift cards were awarded to the following teachers:
Janet Kiser, Karen Sproul, Crystal Kreider, Kari Asay, Karen Klimpert, Deb Stahly, Jason Culver, Shea Proctor, Jason Roler, Barb Marose, Sue Adamiec, Abby Humbarger, Rebekah Gliem, Brittany Haines, Julie Bishop, Treleen Cox, Rachel Sudhoff, Cheri Sleighter, Sarah Wiggins and Teresa Jordan.
Additionally all the teachers at the school were given gifts. Heyneman, along with Shelly Alber, personnel manager, and Deb Ponko, community relations, were on site to personally deliver the awards. The representatives from Wal-Mart and all the winning teachers are pictured above.
