“It would make me happy if this song would touch people’s hearts and make them proud that we live in a country that is free,” stated Jeanette Fairchild, author of the above song, “That’s America”. The song, is dedicated by Fairchild, who resides in Warsaw, in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, and in honor of America’s strength.
Fairchild, a Kentucky-native, notes that she began writing music when she was a girl. The now 61-year-old writing veteran stated she spent 3 days after the events on Sept. 11, writing the song that would develop into “That’s America”.
“Everything felt right but I kept changing things,” explained Fairchild. “I worked on the song until I felt that I had everything in it that I felt America stood for.”
Though the song, which was produced at Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne, has been a favorite of family and friends, Fairchild noted she would love to share the message in the song with more people throughout the world.
“I would love for someone to pick this song up but that has not the most important thing… I would love for the whole world to hear it,” stated Fairchild.
“That’s America” was sung by musician Dan Ackney and the accompanying video was created by Chad Fuller. Fairchild admitted that though she had a solid idea on what the tune would sound like, after contriving the lyrics, she was blown away by Ackney’s performance.
