Manwaring Marvelous For Tigers
KOKOMO – Alexis Manwaring had a round to remember Saturday.
The WCHS senior shot a career best round of 77 to lead her team in the Western Invitational.
Manwaring’s round placed her 10th individually in the talented field of 102 golfers.
Warsaw shot a season best 371 as a team to finish in 13th place among the 20 teams competing at the Chippendale Golf Club.
Ash Jain and Madi Graham both also had strong performances for coach Ray Davis’ team. Jain shot a personal best round of 95 for the Tigers and Graham tied her top effort with a 98.
Kristen Watson shot a 101 and Page Desenberg carded a 120 for Warsaw.
Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 5 in this week’s coaches’ poll, won the tournament tittle with a team score of 304. Among area teams in the field, Penn placed 10th with a 352, Rochester was 11th with a 353 and Plymouth was 15th with a 394.
Cailyn Henderson of Westfield captured medalist honors by shooting a four-under par round of 68 Saturday.
Warsaw, 3-2 on the season, will host Huntington North Wednesday at Stonehenge at 4:30. The Tigers then host Tippecanoe Valley and Wabash Thursday at Stonehenge before taking part in the New Haven Invitational on Saturday at Whispering Creek.
