FSU Tops, Irish 17th In Preseason Poll
There was no surprise at the top of the Associated Press preseason college football poll released today.
Defending national champion Florida State garnered 57 of the 60 first-place votes to hold the top spot in the poll.
The Seminoles, led by Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston, defeated Auburn 34-31 in the BCS national championship game last season. FSU holds down the No. 1 ranking in the preseason poll for the first time since 1999.
Alabama sits at No. 2 in the poll, followed by Oregon, Oklahoma and Ohio State in the top five. The remainder of the top 10 consists of Auburn, UCLA, Michigan State, South Carolina and Baylor.
Stanford checkes in at No. 11, followed by Georgia, LSU, Wisconsin and USC. Clemson is No. 16 with Notre Dame at No. 17. The rest of the top 25 has Mississippi, Arizona State, Kansas State, Texas A & M, Nebraska, North Carolina, Missouri and Washington.
The SEC leads the way with eight teams in the poll. The Pac-12 has six squads ranked.
