Eleanor M. Barnum
Eleanor M. Barnum, 94, formerly of Ligonier, Ind., and Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Aug. 7, 2014, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
She was born on July 7, 1920, in Ligonier, to A. Dewey and Ruth (Mock) Biddle. She married Orlo Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Barnum on Oct. 5, 1940, in Albion. He preceded her on death Sept. 6, 2002.
Mrs. Barnum was employed with Wirk Garment for 25 years. After their retirement in 1981, Eleanor and Ken moved to Syracuse from Ligonier. Eleanor and Ken were longtime members of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel. They loved to travel and spend time with their family.
She is survived by a son: Bill Barnum, Fort Wayne; a daughter: Marge (Roger) Kryder, Syracuse; three grandchildren: Richard Barnum, Goshen, Ind.; Andy (Colleen) Kryder, North Webster, Ind.; Aaron (Daviana) Kryder, Willits, Calif.’ and great-grandchildren: Cammy, Nate, Zack, Giovi and Dominic Kryder.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. A funeral service in her honor will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home. Pastors Harlan Steffen and Brad Cox with Wawasee Lakeside Chapel will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Wawasee Lakeside Chapel or the Diabetes Association.
