Chamber Golf Outing Brings Good Returns
Despite inclement weather, Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf outing, which occurred June 18, brought in approximately $1,000 more than last year’s event. The event also saw an increase in teams with a total of 32.
During the Wednesday, July 2, board meeting, board member Tom Tuttle expressed gratitude toward all members of the golf outing task force, stating, “To get close to $10,000 is a good day.” Tuttle expressed hope the golf outing will continue to grow, adding it is an enjoyable experience.
Board members also voted to put 10 percent, approximately $1,430, from the proceeds of both the golf outing and the chamber’s annual awards banquet into the Legacy Fund. This fund gives scholarships to Wawasee High School graduates seeking higher levels of education. The chamber also uses the Legacy Fund to support local charities.
Chamber members are reminded to reserve seats for the Aug. 16 South Bend Silver Hawks versus Lansing Lugnuts baseball game at Four Winds Field before it is sold out. The game will be Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber Night, and chamber members who call for tickets will receive a free Silver Hawks cap, program, plus company scoreboard recognitions.
Chamber executive director Tammy Cotton stated she will be sending out additional notice to chamber members about the event.
