DePuy Synthes Confirms Lay-Offs, Job Changes
DePuy Synthes has recently confirmed that changes are being made that will affect employees. StaceyPageOnline.com received reports yesterday that the company would allegedly be laying off between 10 to 20 people.
Today, DePuy Synthes Vice President of Worldwide Communications Lorie Gawreluk spoke with StaceyPageOnline.com as to the validity of the claims and the impact it could have on employees.
According to Gawreluk, due to global economic and healthcare market changes, the company is transforming its operating model.
“DePuy Synthes Companies is transforming our operating model to enhance our ability to offer broader portfolio solutions to hospitals, provide superior product innovation and expert service to surgeons, reinforce our organizational capabilities and align our cost structure to our evolving environment,” stated Gawreluk.
Though Gawreluk stated this it a time of metamorphosis for the company, she noted that the majority of the DePuy employees’ roles will not change, or will do so minimally.
“New roles are being created and other roles are being eliminated,” explained Gawreluk. “We hope impacted employees will strongly consider these positions as well as career opportunities across Johnson & Johnson. For employees who are ultimately impacted, we will offer standard Johnson & Johnson severance benefits and career counseling support.”
When asked if these changes will or have affected Warsaw’s headquarters, Gawreluk stated that the impact to roles, be that changing roles, adding additional roles or eliminating roles, is global across many of DePuy’s businesses and sites, including Warsaw.
“Less than 2 percent of employees globally are being impacted through our current plans,” noted Gawreluk. “At the same time, we have created approximately 80 new positions to build capabilities to execute our strategy.”
