“The final installment of “The Mortal Instruments” series, City of Heavenly Fire was released in late May. Readers of the previous five books, after a year long wait, devoured the book and have been quick to share their opinions of the series as a whole.

“The Mortal Instruments” is a series about the secret world of warriors called “shadowhunters” who were created to fight demons. Along with shadowhunters and demons, there are warlocks, vampires, werewolves and fairies.

Clary Fray’s world is turned upside down when she meets Jace Lightwood, and learns that she may have more ties to his world than she ever imagined. Fans of the books are thrilled with the character development, the plot and the close bond that develops between the characters as the series progresses.

Teen readers will become attached to the story, and Cassandra Clare’s writing makes it easy to be absorbed into her fantasy world. If you’re looking for an engaging summer read, “The Mortal Instruments” may be the right pick for you.
